Hey there, I’m Shalena.

Shalena White Studios is a distillation of my creative breadth, made accessible to an extensive audience through handmade art in many forms: studio art jewelry; lighter cases; artistic clothing & accessories; abstract watercolor paintings; and wall art installations for interior design.

Hello and welcome! I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself, as this is my very first blog post! My name is Shalena White. I’m an art educator & interdisciplinary artist: jeweler, metalsmith, sculptor, installation artist, and painter. After exploring every a plethora of artistic mediums, I realized that overlapping multiple processes and practices is the way to create my most authentic artwork.

As part of my artistic discipline, I employ metalsmithing techniques combined with found, organic materials to create sculptural forms. The versatility of simultaneously being wearable art + adornment for architecture is a central element of these artworks. While there are many methods in my creative approach, the underlying practice that draws everything together is metalsmithing. Even when I am working with organic materials like wood, earth, and seeds, I apply jewelry-making techniques to those mediums.

As an entrepreneur, I take on every role in my business. I am constantly learning and evolving, and as result, I have a lot of valuable information that I would like to share with other artists & DIY art businesses who are designing their own websites like I am.

This blog will follow my creative journey as an interdisciplinary artist dabbling in all sorts of mediums, and provide a lens into my innermost guiding thoughts and processes behind the scenes in my art-making journey. It will also offer helpful bench tricks and metals studio tips for metalsmiths & makers. I am excited to share some of the awesome knowledge I’ve gained along the way. I hope to help reduce the learning curve for other artists & creative entrepreneurs with DIY website design tips and several resources that have been beneficial for my art business. Stay tuned for more!
